Welcome to Manchester Sharia Council, led by scholars and experts dedicated to providing guidance on matrimonial matters under Sharia law. As an independent organization, we focus on addressing the unique needs of the Muslim community, emphasizing family life and personal well-being.
Our Approach
At Manchester Sharia Council, we take pride in being a non-denominational entity that embraces the rich diversity of Muslim communities within the UK and around the world. We firmly believe that a true understanding of the Deen enhances and harmonizes every aspect of our lives, guiding us through challenges with wisdom and balance.
Objectives
Our council has emerged with clear objectives – to recognize and address the diverse issues faced by Muslims at different stages of their lives, including matters of Nikah, Islamic Divorce, independent mediation, and providing a compassionate ear to alleviate the stress life may throw at you.
Aims
Manchester Sharia Council is dedicated to delivering an effective, proficient, and professional service. Recognizing the value of time and the importance of confidentiality, we strive to work with you at a mutually agreed pace, ensuring, by the will of Allah, a positive and desired outcome.

Our network includes scholars and experts in the field, ensuring comprehensive support for your specific needs. We collaborate closely with professionals from legal, medical, and social backgrounds, as well as community leaders deeply rooted in the grass-roots of Muslim communities. Together, we form a cohesive team committed to providing tailored and comprehensive assistance.
Background
Established in 2018 as part of Islamic and Family Services CIC, a Community Interest Company, Manchester Sharia Council was founded to help the Muslim community through the introduction of a “Panel method” Sharia Council in Manchester.
Our Vision
Our primary goal is to keep families together whenever possible. We acknowledge the challenges faced by our community in relation to family matters, often stemming from a lack of understanding of Islamic rules and regulations regarding marriage and divorce.
Founding Motivation
Our establishment was prompted by a significant influx of individuals seeking help, including cases of forced marriages, love or arranged marriages gone wrong, instances of living in fear, abuse, and terror, and challenges such as husbands becoming untraceable or being deported with no hope of return.
Supporting the Rights of Our Community
In situations where rights are abused, involving both physical and psychological abuse, and domestic life becomes unbearable, a Qadhi (Islamic Judge) can decide on separation according to Shariah. However, in non-Muslim countries, the judgment of a non-Muslim judge may not align with Islamic Shariah law. Thus, individuals often require the judgment of an Islamic Council to legally annul their marriage, allowing them to remarry and move forward in their lives.
At Manchester Sharia Council, we stand as a pillar of support, dedicated to addressing the unique challenges faced by our community, promoting understanding of Islamic principles, and providing a platform for resolution in family matters.
